Confirm attendance and invite friends on the Facebook page Or just show up!!

copied from the Pet Valu Facebook event:

It's spring, which is a great time for a little bit of "spring cleaning" for your pet!

Bring your pet to the Vanier, ON Pet Valu at 170 Beechwood Avenue on Saturday, May 22 from 10 am - 4 pm for nail trimming & FURminating (pet brushing with a FURminator deShedding tool) for just $5 each - with all proceeds going to the Hopeful Hearts and Westminster Pet Sanctuary charities!

Once your pet is looking their best, we have a photographer on hand to take their photo! Pictures are $10, which also goes to both charities. Photography will be done by Brittany Veinot http://www.phoDOGrapher.ca

To keep your pet looking good all season, take home some of our great grooming products like Pedi Paws, FURminator deShedding tools, shampoos, and stain & odour removers. 25% of the purchase price of these products will be donated to these charities, today only!

About Hopeful Hearts:
Hopeful Hearts is a non-profit dog rescue in Ottawa, Ontario, created in late September 2007. Although we rescue dogs of all sizes, ages and condition, Hopeful Hearts was created especially to help fill a void in the local rescue world for senior and special needs dogs.

About Westminster Pet Sanctuary:
Westminster is a dedicated, hard working, registered charity. All of our members and volunteers are unpaid so 100% of every dollar donated goes towards the critter's care. We do this because all creatures big and small deserve to know what love is and we do not mind showing them! We are a 100% "no kill" Sanctuary and will only euthanize a pet if it is in unimaginable pain that can never be recovered from.

Zorro is growing up so fast!

My lovely foster puppy, Zorro, is growing up very quickly and is such a smart boy!

Now that he's had a taste for walking on a leash, he loves it!! He walks nicely beside me and only occasionally hesitates when there's something scary.  He quickly notices that mom's not scared, and moves along! He has been to the park when it's not too busy, and plays with his sisters and foster neighbour, London (to be posted soon) until I call him back to me!

Zorro is already mostly house trained (just minutes ago he asked to go outside to do his "business") sits calmly when I stop on walks, in the elevator and when I feed him. He goes into his crate when I snap above it and is slooooooooowly learning what he can and can't chew. Even my old girl Sadie has taken a liking to him!!

All of this at only 12 weeks old - what a star! Here are a few photos of the sweet boy.

The whole proof gallery can be seen at www.phoDOGrapher.ca/personal/zorro

Zorro has an adoption pending with a lovely couple who is already head over heels in love with him! All we have to do now is a home visit, and get MYSELF prepared to say goodbye!!

PhoDOGrapher has a foster! Meet Zorro!

I picked up a sweet 9 week old Great Dane Pup from a lovely woman with a heart bigger than the pup will be. She couldn't stand seeing him stuck outside and she wasn't allowed to bring him in, so she did the right thing and called me to find him a family. I contacted my friend Roz of Hopeful Hearts, and of course she said he was welcome to her rescue! I have fallen in love, and couldn't give him up quite yet, so I'll be fostering this little fella until he finds his forever home!

Here's a snap shot for now:

I'll be taking "real" photos tomorrow!

Our first leash lesson was a little sticky, but I've attached him to me with an extenda-leash (one of the few good uses for one, as far as I'm concerned!) and he is slowly learning to follow me around! Such a smart little boy... stay tuned!

TOBY NEEDS YOUR HELP!

This is being copied and pasted around to as many people as we can find, to help a very sweet dog get to a place where he can be healthy. Please help!

Toby's Going on a Trip - But he NEEDS YOU!
Toby is a very handsome 2 year old Lab mix who is currently being cared for by the Westminster Pet Sanctuary. He was rescued when he was at risk of euthanasia due to his extreme allergies. Thankfully Kelli, at Westminster, stepped up for the gorgeous guy to bring him to safety. Following his ...arrival he was taken to the vet and started on hypoallergenic diets and allergy medication. Unfortunately that brought very little improvement for poor Toby. So allergy testing was done to find out just where Toby's problems are coming from. What was found was that Toby is allergic to ALL grasses and most trees - all things are very common in our climate here in Ontario. It was determined that the ideal situation for Toby would be to move to a desert climate - otherwise a life of constant allergies is the best he could hope for.

So - where could Toby go?? Ontario has no deserts and there certainly aren't line ups of people who are living in the desert and also want to adopt Toby! What he needed was another miracle and Best Friends Animal Sanctuary is giving him that miracle! Best Friends is a sanctuary in Kanab, Utah - which also happens to be a desert climate! After reviewing Toby's medical history Best Friends has agreed to take this special guy into their sanctuary and now all we need to do is get him there!

That's where YOU come in! Because without support Westminster Pet Sanctuary will not have the funds to get Toby to his miracle destination. Kelli and Dawn, from Westminster Pet Sanctuary and Cassandra, from Precious Paws Rescue are all set to drive this very deserving dog down to Best Friends, now we just need to raise the funds to get him there. Driving Toby down will be much safer and more comfortable for him - if he was to fly down he would be required to stay in the cargo area for the duration of the flight. It will also be much more expensive to fly him down then to drive and EVERY dollar counts in rescue! So to save Toby a stressful journey and to save Westminster Pet Sanctuary funds that can be used for another dog in need driving is the best way to get Toby to his new home!

I spent Sunday taking photos of more new dogs at Hopeful Hearts! We had a great day, and took our friend Tuffy from Westminster Pet Sanctuary with us!

He was a maniac at first, but was tuckerd out after playing with Michele's lovely long legged girls!
